Things are changing for the Coddington Tribe and we are excited, though we don’t exactly know what all the changes will be!
The Facts
Recently my relationship with TAI has changed. I am moving from an internal, salaried role to an external, commission-based role. It is very similar to what I was doing a few years ago with TAI before they pulled me in as a full-time employee. While we are giving up a regular and predictable income, there are two very big upsides of this move. The first is my income potential. In my role as a TAI Sr. Associate, I can actually earn more money with the structure TAI has in place for Associates (TAI has always been a generous company). Secondly, I gain a lot of flexibility. While I am committed to the vision of TAI and believe God will use TAI to do great things, I have had to put a number of things aside or on hold for a while as I have committed to employment these last years.
Karen and I (and the kids) are stepping out in faith, unsure of the all the details, but absolutely certain that God is working it out to His glory. In fact, we are excited about the vision we think He is unfolding for our family.
The Vision
Back in fall of 2010, through interesting circumstances which I will not detail now, Karen and I felt a fairly strong leading to move to Southern California. As we sought the Lord in prayer, He seemed to confirm that this was His direction and that summer 2012 was the right time. We began casually talking to family, close friends and accountability partners, asking for prayer and sharing vision. We were, and still are, committed to working with and through TAI, but it didn’t seem like a move to SoCal was going to work in my former relationship with TAI for a lot of reasons. With my new relationship with TAI, California 2012 seems very possible. In fact, we are beginning to feel, as we felt in 2010, that this has been His plan all along.
So you may be asking, why SoCal? I have never had a desire to live there and the idea did not come from any personal desire to be there. While the idea and benefits are growing on me, it’s not my place of choice (you’ll hear a different perspective from the members of the Coddington Tribe who love sun and beach, which is everyone but me). Here are some of our reasons.
Karen and I have a desire to help the worldwide church grow. God is doing amazing things all over the world and we feel called to be part of it. For example, the church in Asia is growing rapidly (you may not know it but South Korea has surpassed the US in sending missionaries). One of the big needs in the Asian church is leadership development. We feel that living on the West Coast would make sense as we have opportunities to help in that arena.
Also, there are plenty of business opportunities for TAI. At TAI we have talked for a long time about having a West Coast office and this would allow us the chance to test those waters.
As well, my brother Dave just moved there last summer and we don’t want him and his family to get lonely.
The Prayer Requests
We covet your wisdom, thoughts and prayers. Here are some specifics:
- We are looking for guidance and direction as we contemplate this move.
- We are walking in faith as we wait for God’s provision.
- We want our kids to grow through this time, learning to appreciate how rich we are, how much God provides and what it’s like to live by faith.

This is an urgent request for prayer. As mentioned 2 and 1/2 hours ago Wes was in a lot of pain. It has not subsided and they believe that it may be respiratory. He is feverish and they have bags of ice surrounding him. Please Pray!

1. We did NOT buy a Spyder motorcycle. Our last post was a fun one, but we are still running into friends and family who did not scroll down and see that the 6 Month gift Karen got for me was a toy! Go ahead, look back and see the pictures on the bottom. I told Karen not to goof around on this website…

Wes was up ALL night in pain. They are coming to do a Cat Scan on his bowels soon. However, his creatinine is down to 5.9!

Wes is in severe pain. They did an abdominal x-ray almost 2 hours ago and he has not heard back yet. They have given him pain medicine but it is not doing anything.
This afternoon they gave him 2 suppositories, 2 soap enemas, and a drink to help clear out his bowels. After the second enema he was able to clear out a little but nothing more since then. He has a lot of pressure and it’s traveling down his abdomen.
Percocet & Dilauded are not easing the pain. Please play for relief.

**Text I received from Wes**
Trying not to ask “Where is God?”. Please pray that I don’t abandon Him or doubt his mercy.
Wes’ creatinine has gone back up to 7.4. They say it could be because he is dehydrated. They have been having difficulty getting blood out of his veins the last few days. He has taken two Percocet and is still in a lot of pain.
Wes requested that they do an ultra sound just to double check that the kidney still has blood supply and is functioning.

Today is Wes’ 39th birthday!
From the day I said “Yes” to the day I said “I DO” to this present day, I have not regretted a single day. Yes we have had our differences, but the man you read in our blog and hear comments of testimony from others is the man God has given me.
Wes is very much human!! He does his best to glorify God in all that he does. He has been a faithful leader in our home. He strives to teach his kids in a manner that inspires and corrects. He has been an example of patience, grace and mercy to all of us, especially his stubborn wife.
Wes has shown strength in weakness, hope in disappointment, encouragement in discouragement, faithfulness in what seems to us to be injustice, and above all he has shown, as best he can, Christ despite all circumstances. It has not been an easy road for Wes. There has been such a variety of emotion as each day holds its different challenges and God has proven faithful to uphold him and give him the strength to go on.
As much as this is a testimony of Wes, it is also a testimony of the God we serve who gives and takes away. Blessed be His name. As hard as is has been and life hasn’t gone the way we have planned, time and time again God has shown us a larger picture beyond ourselves.
Wes you are truly amazing and a blessing to me and our children. You have a heart for God and a heart for others. You have encouraged us to press on in all life’s challenges. I am thankful God chose you for me and that I said “YES”.

Day One – Kasey wanted to ride her bike. After 30 minutes of being bent over holding onto the seat, my back was done but Kasey kept trying.
Day Two – 20 minutes before she went to school, Kasey wanted to try again. She had everything down but the start up and turn around.
Day Three – Success!!! I was able to stand in the middle of the street while Kasey rode up and down. Starting, stopping and turning with no problems. Kadin even came out to ride with her and show her a few “tricks”, like skidding the back tire, ridding with no hands and even standing up on the frame and occasionally jumping off. Yes, he is a bit of a dare devil and no, Kasey did not try any of them except skidding the back tire.
